Hello and welcome to my site dedicated to my 1972 BMW 2002tii. Join me as I embark on a restoration project to restore one of BMW's finest automobiles, the original "Sports Coupe", the BMW 2002.
The 2002 sedan (not to be confused with year but rather model) is the legendary automobile that revolutionized the auto industry by introducing the world's first true "Sports Coupe" sedan. It also contributed to BMW's financial success at a crucial turning point in the company's history with its introduction into the US back in 1968. It received critical acclaim and was able to propel BMW into one of the world's most successful auto manufacturers.
The 2002 series received its roots from the earlier 1600 and Neu Klasse models of the early 60's. It served as a platform for the later E21 and E30 (3 series) models. The 2002 embodies the true spirit of driving and its essence can still be felt today in almost all current models. But, for many the appreciation of this .Little Giant Killer. remains and its popularity continues to grow as evidenced by an ever increasing cult following.
At the time of this writing, I no longer own my 1972 BMW 2002tii. It was sold in July 2005 but the site still remains as a posterity to other 2002 restorations and for all to enjoy and remember this automobile along with me.
