Gearing Calculator

Use this nifty tool to determine calculations for your gearing. This is useful if you plan to change around your wheel size and swap your differential for a higher (or lower) gearing.

Begin with providing your tire size & click calculate to obtain total wheel diameter:

Width
in mm
Profile Alloy diameter
in inches
Total diameter
in mm

Next, Provide the ratio per gear. Click "Reset" to clear current values:

1st gear 2nd gear 3rd gear 4th gear 5th gear 6th gear Reverse Final drive
:1 :1 :1 :1 :1 :1 :1 :1

Now, simply calculate the values below per gear. Select the gear you want, then type in the desired RPM level speed and click "Compute Speed" to obtain what the car is going to run.

For example, if I want to know what my car will do at 3000 rpm with 225/50/18 tires (682.2 diameter) and a 3:07 diff in 5th gear, I choose the Gear as 5th, type 3000 in the "Engine Speed RPM" field and then click "Compute Speed" to obtain the Speed MPH below it (Speed in km/h also included).

The results would be 96MPH or 155km/h.
