October
5th, 2002.
After
close to a month of not doing much, I finally got together with Eric
Kerman up in NY to pick up my engine. He had completed it several weeks
ago but due to our schedules we hadn't been able to get together.
Saturday morning I prepared for my trip up to NY to pick up the motor.
Eric's a cool guy, and knows his stuff when it comes to the internals
of 2002 engines. This was not a rebuild, but rather a renewal. All the
pistons, valves, seals, etc. are brand new, not refurbed. The originals
were tossed out for all the new replacement parts. Furthermore, I got a
new late 80's reproduction 121 head as my original had cracked. So this
is in essence a brand new motor. Everything from top to bottom on the
long block was replaced with new parts down to the bolts and screws.
The
pistons are 9.3:1 unlike the original 9.5:1, but with some mild port
work to the head and all the new parts in the head such as cam, etc.
this puppy should yield slightly better than stock HP ratings. In the
pics below you will see me and Eric discussing details about the motor
and loading it up in my truck for the 3 hour drive home....

Not much going on right
now. The new house has had priority over everything. I close today on
Halloween, and will be moving and settling into the new place
throughout the early part of November. Here are some quick pics of the
engine at my old garage. All this will be moved to my new place.
